Job Description

Budget Title: Instructional Support Associate (SL-2)

Salary: $51,261

The Department of Biological Sciences at Binghamton University (http://www.binghamton.edu/biology/) is seeking candidates for a full-time position as Instructional Support Associate, beginning Winter 2025.

Duties include but are not limited to

  • Preparing materials and bacterial cultures for microbiology laboratory courses
  • Ordering supplies needed for the microbiology laboratory courses
  • Providing instructional support and assistance for microbiology laboratory courses
  • Working with teaching assistants to familiarize them with the protocols and instrumentation used in the microbiology laboratory courses
  • Setting up, cleaning and maintaining assigned instructional laboratory spaces
  • Maintaining assigned laboratory equipment
  • Assisting with microbiology course development
  • Supervising potential work study students assisting in lab preparation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Biology or a related field
  • Training or experience in microbiology
  • Demonstrated experience with microbiology techniques and instrumentation
  • Effective organizational and written/verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working with a diverse group of people

Preferred

  • Master's degree (or higher)
  • Work experience at the college level
  • Experience in assisting in teaching laboratory courses
