Position Summary
The Infusion Access & Authorization Coordinator serves as the primary administrative liaison for the Oncology and Infusion Center, ensuring patients receive timely access to treatments and services.
This role is responsible for coordinating patient scheduling, referrals, insurance verification, benefit eligibility, and prior authorizations for infusion therapies, chemotherapy, biologics, and oncology services. By proactively managing these processes, the coordinator helps prevent treatment delays, reduce authorization denials, and create a seamless experience for patients and providers alike.
What You'll Do
Patient Access & Scheduling
• Welcome and assist patients throughout the scheduling and registration process
• Coordinate new and established patient appointments
• Manage infusion scheduling and chair coordination to support efficient patient flow
• Verify demographic and insurance information
• Communicate appointment instructions, preparation requirements, and financial expectations
Authorization & Referral Coordination
• Obtain prior authorizations for chemotherapy, biologics, infusion medications, and oncology-related services
• Track authorization status and proactively follow up to prevent treatment delays
• Perform insurance eligibility and benefit verification
• Coordinate referrals with physicians, specialists, and referring offices
• Serve as the primary point of contact for referral partners and outside providers
• Communicate with insurance payers to resolve denials and secure approvals
Care Coordination & Administrative Support
• Collaborate with nursing, pharmacy, providers, and billing teams to ensure treatment plans align with authorization requirements
• Maintain authorization logs, tracking tools, and patient records
• Assist with medical records requests, correspondence, and documentation
• Support workflow improvements that enhance patient access and operational efficiency

Qualifications
• Minimum two years of experience in a medical office, hospital-based clinic, or healthcare setting required
• Experience with insurance authorizations, referrals, and patient scheduling required
• Oncology, infusion, chemotherapy, or biologic authorization experience strongly preferred
• Experience with electronic health record systems required (Meditech experience preferred)
• Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10, CPT coding, and insurance processes preferred
• Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills
