POSITION SUMMARY
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for all ordering of necessary spare parts and raw materials as required to maintain the efficiency of the plant. The Purchasing Manager must also develop relationships with the suppliers the plant relies on to get the best pricing and service. The person that fills this job will also be expected to assist in developing and maintaining the plant s parts and purchasing database.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
To be eligible for advancement to this classification as an internal candidate, in the previous 12-month period, a candidate must:
Have a good attendance record.
Consistently maintain a high standard in terms of safety, dependability, work practices, performance, professionalism, attitude, leadership, and work ethic.
Other forms of training are acceptable when applying as an external candidate. All Applicants
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Working knowledge of wallboard manufacturing process and product.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Strong computer skills, must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Strong written and verbal skills. Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion. Strong organizational skills, ability to handle multiple tasks and timelines with interruptions. Good math skills are required to make precision measurements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Physically capable of climbing stairs.
Proficient verbal and written skills.
Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time. Must have manual dexterity needed to type on a computer keyboard.
Continual hand/wrist motion is required to operate computers and office machinery.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver s license (is this required?)
Occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds.
Purchasing Manager must be able to stand or walk up to 80% (80%?) of the assigned work shift.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed mainly in an office environment with ongoing presence required in manufacturing plant.
Normal work hours are Monday Friday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary.
The position requires work in the plant, mill, maintenance shop and offices.
The plant areas are not heated or air conditioned.
Hearing protection is required in all areas outside of the offices and laboratory.
Must be physically capable of climbing stairs and ladders, and other means of accessing equipment and work areas to get parts information if necessary.
Adequate vision and hearing will be required for safe pedestrian movement and inspection of equipment and parts.
The job requires good organizational skills and the ability to be flexible in a fast- paced environment.
Must know how to operate a fork lift and a man lift (equipment specific training will be provided) (is this required?)
