Facilities Lead

Position Summary

This individual will be responsible for the efficient operation of all equipment, utilities, and facility systems. This role oversees maintenance activities, manages vendors, supports capital projects, and ensures compliance with safety and environmental standards. The individual will lead efforts to minimize downtime, extend equipment life, and maintain a clean, safe, and functional facility. 

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance, repair, and upgrades of production equipment, including bottling lines, crush equipment, pumps, and conveyors. 
• Execute preventive maintenance (PM) schedules to minimize downtime and extend equipment life. 
• Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and servicing. 
•  Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, and equipment warranties. 
• Ensure structural integrity and upkeep of all facilities, including production areas, warehouses, offices, and storage spaces. 
• Oversee operation and maintenance of utilities (water, gas, electrical, HVAC) to ensure continuous service. 
•  Manage wastewater systems, water treatment processes, and environmental compliance. 
•  Coordinate pest control, landscaping, and exterior grounds maintenance. 

Supervise janitorial and sanitation services to ensure a clean, safe, and organized environment. 

• Support planning and implementation of facility expansions, equipment upgrades, and automation projects. 
• Monitor and drive energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives, including solar and water reclamation systems. 
• Manage budgets for maintenance, repairs, and facility-related projects. 
• Supervise maintenance and custodial staff, providing clear direction and performance oversight. 
• Partner with production, quality, and logistics teams to address and resolve facility-related needs.
• Deliver training on equipment operation, safety procedures, and emergency response protocols. 
• Provides Direction to Facilities and maintenance team.

Required Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in facilities, maintenance, manufacturing facility, wine production, bottling, or crush operations in leadership positions in a medium or large winery, bottling or crushing facility.
• 2 years experience as a technician with proficiency in troubleshooting preferred 
• Proficient in using a CMMS preferred 
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to effectively communicate well with all levels of the organization – English, Spanish is a plus 
• Adaptable / Flexible - being open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances 
• Proven ability to drive cohesion and collaboration among many different people & functions 
• Team value and how to successfully motivate and maintain employee involvement while driving change 
•  Organizational skills, with ability to manage competing priorities 
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements (TTB, OSHA, HACCP, ISO certifications). 
•  Excellent problem-solving, communication, and negotiation skills. 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or G-suite
