Minimum pay for this position is $17.85/hour (plus a $1.25/hour Second Shift Differential when working that shift). Additional compensation will be considered for candidates with higher amounts of experience above the minimum requirements.
Flex: A position working an average of 20-29 hours per week (between 1000 - 1559 hours/year).
NOTE: This position will receive a 2nd Shift Pay Differential WHEN APPLICABLE. If you are working a first shift, the differential will not apply.
The Van Shuttle Driver will provide courteous and safe transportation for those team members traveling to and from their work locations. This position will work to support employee transportation needs. This position requires an individual who is self-motivated, has great time management skills, and who can work well under pressure. This individual must have a good driving record and must exhibit safe driving skills. All drivers must also exhibit patience, common sense and driving courtesy.
The Van Shuttle Driver must maintain a valid North Carolina Driver’s License as 15-passenger vans will be used to transport staff both on and off the Estate. A candidate with a valid Commercial Driver's License is a plus, but not necessary, as sometimes a larger shuttle may be needed. Once employed by the Biltmore Company, all CDL holders must keep their DOT medical card current, using a company-approved physician.

- Schedule can vary, but is generally 5:15 AM - 2:45 PM or 2:45 PM - 12:15 AM.
- This position requires being available 1st shift, 2nd shift, weekends and holidays.
- Transports staff using a 15-passenger van.
- Maintains a positive attitude and professional appearance.
- Communicates with skill and tact.
- Maintains the van schedule and adheres to correct drop-off and pick-up locations.
- Maintains a litter-free environment on the vehicle and throughout all Estate grounds.
- Immediately reports vehicle maintenance issues to the supervisor.
- Immediately reports any accidents or near-misses to the supervisor.
- Immediately reports any conflict or confrontation involving the employee van, its driver, or its occupants to the supervisor.
- Keeps department vehicles clean inside and out.
- Operates all vehicles safely and complies with all safety procedures.
- Executes emergency procedures during floods, snow and ice, bomb threats, etc.
- Complete vehicle pre and post trip reports, as well as track maintenance and service (fuel, etc.)
- Provide general support and assistance to the department, leadership, and company as required.
- Understands and follows all company and departmental policies and procedures.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Previous guest service experience preferred.
- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
- At least five years of driving experience with no moving violations during the previous five years.
- Ability to be a team player in a fast-paced dynamic department.
- Ability to adapt to a constantly changing environment.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to give clear, concise verbal directions.
- Be outgoing with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use Microsoft Outlook and/or similar email software
- Ability to speak, converse, read, and write in English.
- Ability to sit and drive for up to ten hours per day.
- Ability to lift 30 to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to drive in both daylight and darkness.
- Ability to drive and disseminate information at the same time.
