Essential Job Duties:
- Process and catalog archival manuscripts, drawings and maps, photographs, and book collections. 40%
- Manage the Oral History Program. 20%
- Reference Services: Support internal projects through research for the museum services department and other departments within the company. Provide reference services to guests and researchers as requested. 20%
- Catalog accessions and maintain the curatorial library.
- Manage select archival preservation projects.
- Assist as needed with managing interns.
- Periodically research and draft articles for the company newsletter.
- Pursue professional development in the greater archival community.
- Support cemetery tours in the absence of the Archaeologist.
- Manage the Archives in the absence of the Archivist/Librarian.
Required
- A Master's of Library and Information Science from an accredited institution. The equivalent combination of education and experience would be considered in lieu of a master’s degree. (Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant archival experience)
- A minimum of 3 years of professional work experience in an Archive.
- Experience processing and cataloging archival collections. Knowledge of current archival descriptive and meta standards.
- Knowledge of oral history professional practice, methodology, theory, and ethics.
- Knowledge of archive operations, including understanding best practices, trends, and emerging technologies.
- Some experience working with digital archival materials.
- Demonstrated consistent accuracy and attention to detail while maintaining a very high level of productivity.
- Excellent research and oral and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively to support the diverse goals of the department and company.
- Ability to relate, communicate, and interact with members of the community and show discretion as appropriate.
- A Master’s degree with a concentration in Archives Management.
- Experience with relational database software and/or collections management software and applications, as well as digital audio editor and recording application software.
- Demonstrated experience managing an Oral History Program, including conducting and processing interviews.
- Excellent organizational skills and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple simultaneous projects and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Experience working with fragile historical items and knowledge of basic conservation
- Able to lift 35 lbs.
- Able to climb stairs and scaffolding.
- Able to use step stools and ladders.
