Please note this is a seasonal position with an expected end date of January 5th, 2026. However, based on performance and business needs, there may be an opportunity to be considered for a more permanent role at the end of the season, if one is available.
Schedules may vary; weekend and evening availability are required for this role.
The Retail Sales Assistant is responsible for providing exceptional guest service, sales, and accurate cash register operations. This includes assisting guests with their selections, checking inventory locations for guests, up-selling and cross-selling, and increasing revenue. Other responsibilities include assistance as needed with opening and closing the shops, performing assigned side work, restocking merchandise, and maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the shops. The incumbent will also provide general support and assistance to the leadership, department, and company.

Essential Job Duties:
- Greet and welcome all guests. Do all possible to make each guest's visit memorable and pleasant.
- Efficiently handle large sums of money.
- Open and close the retail shops.
- Clean and organize the shop to keep the shop presentable and representative of the Biltmore brand at all times.
- Familiarize and keep knowledge of all shop merchandise, old and new, up to date as often as possible.
- Work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Provide exceptional guest service.
- Exhibit proper phone/radio etiquette.
- Previous retail and/or customer service experience strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will have had at least six (6) months of prior retail or guest service experience in an upscale/luxury setting.
- Exceptional guest relations and verbal communication skills.
- Basic math skills and the ability to operate a cash register/point of sale (POS) system. Previous experience with cash handling is helpful.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing world-class guest service.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, guest service environment as part of a team.
- Ability to anticipate guest needs, be proactive, and take initiative where appropriate.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and multitask.
- Some locations may require special skills or experience and/or may have age requirements or restrictions.
- Standing and walking for the majority of time (85%).
- Ability to lift 25lbs regularly and 50 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to climb ladders.
- High energy and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
