Make a Difference. Lead a Team. Help Us Raise the Standard of Care.

Billings Rehab & Nursing is looking for an experienced, motivated Registered Nurse to join our leadership team as our Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON).

This is an excellent opportunity for an RN who is ready to take the next step in their career and play a key role in clinical leadership, resident care, staff development, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance.

We are looking for someone who is more than a good nurse. We want an organized, dependable, accountable leader who can build relationships with staff, communicate effectively with residents and families, and help create a culture where excellent resident care is the expectation.

What You'll Do

As the ADON, you will work closely with the Director of Nursing and facility leadership to oversee the day-to-day clinical operations of the nursing department.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist the DON with overall clinical leadership of the nursing department.
  • Support and monitor quality of resident care.
  • Provide clinical guidance and support to RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and other nursing staff.
  • Assist with staff supervision, coaching, and performance management.
  • Participate in the investigation and follow-up of resident incidents and concerns.
  • Assist with completion and follow-up of incident reports and required documentation.
  • Monitor changes in resident condition and ensure appropriate clinical follow-up.
  • Assist with care plan development and interdisciplinary team coordination.
  • Monitor documentation and clinical practices for compliance with facility standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with audits, quality assurance, and QAPI initiatives.
  • Participate in staff education and competency development.
  • Help ensure timely physician/provider and family communication.
  • Assist with infection prevention and control initiatives.
  • Help monitor falls, skin conditions, medication-related concerns, incidents, and other clinical quality indicators.
  • Assist with survey preparation and regulatory compliance.
  • Serve as a clinical leader and resource for staff.
  • Help promote a positive, respectful, resident-centered work environment.
  • Provide nursing coverage and clinical support when needed.

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • LPN applicants will not be considered for this position.
  • Previous skilled nursing/long-term care experience.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and hold staff accountable.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to resident dignity, safety, and quality of care.
  • Dependable and professional leadership style.

Preferred Experience

We are especially interested in RNs who have experience in:

  • Skilled nursing facility leadership
  • ADON/DON or nursing management
  • Long-term care
  • MDS
  • Care planning
  • Incident investigations
  • QAPI
  • Infection prevention
  • Staff education
  • State/federal survey preparation
  • Risk management
  • Clinical audits and quality improvement

Why Join Us?

At Billings Rehab & Nursing, your role will be more than a title. You will have the opportunity to help shape the nursing department and make a real difference in the lives of our residents and staff.

We are looking for an ADON who wants to be involved, solve problems, develop staff, and help move the facility forward.

You will work directly with facility leadership and have an opportunity to grow professionally while making an impact on clinical outcomes and resident satisfaction.

The Right Candidate Is Someone Who:

  • Leads by example.
  • Doesn't wait for problems to become crises.
  • Can have difficult conversations professionally.
  • Supports staff while maintaining accountability.
  • Has strong clinical judgment.
  • Is comfortable investigating problems and finding solutions.
  • Takes ownership rather than making excuses.
  • Understands that documentation and regulatory compliance matter.
  • Treats residents and families with dignity and respect.
  • Wants to build a strong nursing team—not simply manage one.

Experience

Required:

  • RN license: 5 year
  • Skilled nursing/long-term care experience: 2 years preferred
  • Leadership/charge nurse experience: preferred

Education

  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
