What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shop Hand position at Billet Custom Fabrication?
Overview:
We are a small manufacturing facility seeking a highly self-motivated individual with a strong aptitude of creativity & great attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have eagerness to expand & learn new skillsets. Candidates must not only do well, but thrive in a team setting that has the ability to provide constructive feedback, uphold positive open dialog and adhere to direction.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- General maintenance & cleaning - Performing tasks such as sweeping, cleaning equipment, & organizing work areas to maintain a clean and safe facility.
- Assisting staff - Provide support to mechanics, welders & other experienced personnel on assigned projects. This may include tasks such as cleaning & prepping components, ordering & moving materials, or preparing surfaces to streamline the manufacturing process.
- Material and Inventory Management - Assist with receiving, stocking, organizing, & inventory count. Other responsibilities may include stacking pallets, applying labels, or retrieving documentation from existing products.
- Vendor Support - Greet vendors & communicate to managers upon arrival, taking notations of reason for visit if management cannot be reached, answering questions to the best of your knowledge, operating forklift for pickups or deliveries.
- Product Preparation - Prep components for product development & production involving sanding, cutting, beveling, deburring, oiling, & powder coating.
- Documentation - Complete and manage documentation related to repairs, inventory, processes & procedures.
Requirements:
- Proficient in using hand tools and power tools for metalworking tasks
- Strong attention to detail
-Strong verbal & written communication skills
-Strong organizational skills
- Strong work ethic and ability to work well solo & in a team environment
-Diagnostic abilities & self resourcefulness
-Ability to create & manufacture prototypes & modify parts as needed
-Basic to intermediate mechanical knowledge
-Ability to decipher diagrams of products to make changes accordingly to specifications/ jigs
-Basic MIG & TIG welding knowledge for steel & aluminum
-Knowledge utilizing various hand tools such as bandsaws, hand grinders, drills, pallet jacks
-Ability to lift heavy items, stand for long periods of time, & perform tasks that require hand-eye coordination
-Ability to operate a forklift/manlift
-Basic computer skills
-Basic math & geometry knowledge
-Basic knowledge of Google sheets, Docs & Drive
-Ability to convert fractions & decimals, find the degree of an angle
Education: A high school diploma or GED is preferred
