Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and adaptable Human Resources Generalist to join our team in the school bus transportation industry. This role is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys working across all areas of human resources, with a strong interest in employee relations, recruiting, and regulatory compliance.
During the initial training period, this position will support a wide range of HR functions. As onboarding is completed, the role will transition into a more specialized focus on employee relations, talent acquisition, and ensuring compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily HR operations including employee records, benefits administration, and HRIS updates
- Help maintain HR policies, procedures, and documentation
- Partner with leadership to support workforce needs across departments
- Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries, employee concerns, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation
- Promote a positive workplace culture and ensure consistent application of company policies
- Conduct investigations and support performance management processes
- Manage full-cycle recruitment for drivers, monitors, mechanics, and administrative staff
- Maintain compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations, including driver qualification files
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2 years of HR experience, preferably in a generalist or multi-functional role
- Experience with employee relations and recruiting preferred
- Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations or willingness to learn quickly
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in transportation, logistics, or a regulated industry
- Familiarity with HRIS systems and compliance tracking
- Bilingual skills are a plus
