Office Operations Assistant

Bill Miller Photographers
Ohatchee, AL Full Time | Part Time
POSTED ON 10/25/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 2/22/2027

Bill Miller Photographers is a third-generation, family-owned school photography business, and we're looking for a hardworking, dependable, and motivated individual to join our office team!

This position will work directly with ownership while also playing an important role in our daily office and photography production operations.

We're looking for someone who takes genuine pride in their work, pays attention to details, and understands the importance of being part of a team.

We're not looking for someone who simply shows up and completes assigned tasks. We want someone who takes initiative, sees what needs to be done, and genuinely cares about doing a great job.

Job Responsibilities

This is a hands-on position involving a variety of office and production responsibilities, including:

  • Working directly with ownership to assist with daily operations, projects, and administrative tasks
  • Taking responsibility for assigned projects and seeing them through to completion
  • Working extensively in photography production, including preparing, organizing, processing, and checking customer orders
  • Answering phones and emails and assisting customers with questions and orders
  • Data entry and working with school and student information
  • Organizing paperwork, digital files, and company records
  • Learning and using multiple company software systems
  • Assisting other departments during busy periods
  • Helping prepare and organize photography jobs
  • Adjusting quickly when priorities change or urgent needs arise
  • Identifying areas where help is needed and stepping in without being asked
  • Supporting the team with whatever tasks are necessary to keep daily operations running smoothly

No two days are exactly alike. We're looking for someone who enjoys staying busy, can shift gears quickly, is willing to do a little bit of everything, and understands that every task matters.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong work ethic — Comes to work ready to contribute, stays focused, and gives their best effort every day.
  • Self-motivated — Doesn't need constant direction or supervision to stay productive.
  • Takes initiative — Sees what needs to be done and jumps in without waiting to be asked.
  • Takes ownership — Can be trusted with a responsibility and follows through from start to finish.
  • Pays attention to detail — Understands that accuracy and quality matter, even with the smallest tasks.
  • Organized and efficient — Can juggle multiple responsibilities, prioritize tasks, and keep things moving.
  • Adaptable and flexible — Can quickly shift priorities, change directions, and adjust to the needs of the day without becoming frustrated or losing focus.
  • Problem-solver — Willing to think independently, work through challenges, and find solutions.
  • Eager to learn — Open to learning new systems, processes, and different areas of our business.
  • Team player — Willing to help coworkers and step into different roles whenever needed.
  • Dependable and trustworthy — Someone we can count on to show up, follow through, and handle responsibilities with care.
  • Positive attitude — Takes constructive feedback well, communicates effectively, and contributes to a positive workplace.
  • Takes pride in their work — Cares about doing things correctly, not just getting them done.

Required Computer Skills & Technology

Strong computer skills are essential for this position. Applicants should already be comfortable working with technology and navigating multiple software programs.

  • Google Workspace — Proficiency with Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Calendar.
  • Microsoft Excel — Comfortable working with spreadsheets, organizing data, sorting, filtering, and using basic formulas.
  • ChatGPT & AI Tools — Familiarity with using ChatGPT to assist with everyday tasks, research, organization, and problem-solving.
  • General Computer Skills — Comfortable managing digital files, navigating multiple programs, and learning new software.
  • Tech-Savvy and Resourceful — Willing to troubleshoot basic issues, explore solutions, and use available tools to work more efficiently.

Previous office, administrative, customer service, or production experience is preferred.

Why Work With Us?

We're a family-owned business that values our employees and understands the importance of family, flexibility, and a positive work environment.

While we offer a family-friendly atmosphere and flexibility that can be hard to find elsewhere, this is also a busy, demanding work environment where hard work, accountability, and teamwork are expected.

Our busiest seasons require everyone to stay focused, work efficiently, adapt to changing priorities, and be willing to step in wherever needed.

We believe flexibility and a strong work ethic should go hand in hand. We take care of our employees, and in return, we expect them to care about their work, their teammates, and the success of our company.

The Right Fit

We're looking for someone who can become a dependable part of our daily operations — someone who can take responsibilities off ownership's plate, work independently, and be trusted to follow through without constant reminders.

We don't expect you to know everything on day one. We're happy to train the right person. What matters most is your willingness to learn, your attitude, your work ethic, and the pride you take in doing a job well.

If you're hardworking, dependable, comfortable with technology, eager to learn, and the kind of person who sees something that needs to be done and just does it, we'd love to hear from you!
