Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired during the 2026-2027 academic year. This contract role offers the chance to serve a dynamic caseload of approximately eight students near Bellevue, WA. As a dedicated educator, you will work exclusively onsite, providing specialized instructional support and advocacy to empower students with visual impairments.
This is a part-time commitment of 15 hours per week from August 26, 2026, through June 16, 2027. Your expertise will make an immediate impact, tailoring services for each student’s individualized needs, with a balance of weekly, monthly, and quarterly support—all totaling about 15 hours per week.
Qualifications:
- Current and valid Washington State Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) Certification (required)
- Completion of fingerprinting through OSPI (required prior to start)
- Experience working with students who have visual impairments in an educational setting preferred
- Strong communication skills to liaise with families, teams, and administration
- Ability to plan and deliver instruction aligned with best practices in visual impairment education
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and adapt curriculum for students with visual impairments
- Conduct assessments to inform Individualized Education Program (IEP) development
- Maintain thorough and timely documentation of student progress and service minutes
- Collaborate with staff and families to foster a supportive and accessible learning environment
- Advocate for the resources, accommodations, and technology necessary for student success
