Resource Teacher
The Resource Teacher is a valued member of our academic team who supports both students
and teachers by fostering an inclusive, flexible, and nurturing learning environment. This
role is dedicated to helping students succeed through differentiated instruction, providing
instructional resources that enhance classroom learning, and ensuring continuity when
teachers are absent. The Resource Teacher works closely with teachers and school
leadership to strengthen instruction and support the diverse needs of our learning
community.
Position Details
• School: Santa Monica Bilingual School (SMBS)
• Location: Colonia Vida Nueva, sector Cofradía, Cortés, Honduras
• Time Commitment: February 2026 – June 2026
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting Students Through Differentiated Learning
- Provide personalized academic support to students with diverse learning needs in a caring and encouraging manner.
- Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning, build confidence, and support understanding of key concepts.
- Adapt instructional strategies and activities to meet different learning styles, abilities, and paces.
- Create a safe and supportive space where students feel comfortable asking questions and engaging in learning.
- Share observations and progress updates with classroom teachers to ensure consistent support.
- Provide extra academic support to students who require special accommodations or who are struggling with specific concepts.
- Assist students with special learning requirements, including learning disabilities or English as a Second Language (ESL).
Creating Instructional Resources & Learning Materials
- Design and create anchor charts, visual supports, graphic organizers, and other instructional materials that make learning clear and engaging.
- Collaborate with teachers to develop or adapt resources that align with lesson goals and student needs.
- Respond thoughtfully to teachers’ requests for materials, offering ideas and solutions that support effective instruction.
- Help maintain organized, accessible resource materials that teachers can easily use and share.
- Occasionally assist teachers with lesson preparation, including collecting materials and setting up equipment.
Providing Classroom Coverage & Continuity
- Step into classrooms when a teacher is absent, ensuring a calm, respectful, and productive learning environment.
- Follow lesson plans and classroom routines with care and consistency.
- Support students during coverage by maintaining structure, encouraging participation, and fostering positive behavior.
- Communicate clearly with teachers after coverage to share important notes or updates.
Collaboration & Teamwork
- Work closely with teachers, coordinators, and administrators as a supportive partner in student learning.
- Communicate openly, respectfully, and professionally with all members of the school community.
- Participate in team meetings, planning sessions, and professional development opportunities.
- Contribute to a positive school culture built on collaboration, trust, and shared responsibility.
