Duties
- Conduct diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, air brakes, suspension, and electrical systems for trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, tire service, brake repairs, shocks & struts, wheel alignments, and equipment inspections.
- Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues accurately.
- Fabricate or modify parts using welding and hand tools to meet specific repair needs or enhance equipment performance.
- Operate heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other industrial equipment safely during repair or maintenance tasks.
- Respond promptly to roadside breakdowns or field service calls to minimize vehicle downtime for clients.
- Maintain detailed service records, inspection reports, and parts documentation to ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a diesel mechanic with dealership experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment operation including excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, and truck-trailer systems.
- Proficiency in automotive diagnostics, electrical system repair, hydraulics, HVAC systems, and transmission work.
- Skilled in using power tools, welding equipment, soldering tools, and hand tools for various repair tasks.
- Ability to read schematics and technical manuals accurately for troubleshooting complex issues.
- Valid certification in heavy truck repair or diesel engine repair; ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification is a plus.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work in diverse outdoor environments under varying weather conditions.
- Excellent customer service skills with a proactive attitude toward safety and quality assurance.
