Responsibilities
- Assist in food preparation and cooking, following established recipes and safety standards
- Slice, chop, and handle ingredients using proper knife skills and slicing techniques
- Prepare meals efficiently while maintaining high quality and presentation standards
- Follow food safety protocols to ensure proper handling, storage, and sanitation of all ingredients
- Support menu planning by preparing ingredients for daily service and special events
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen stations, equipment, and utensils throughout shifts
- Contribute to food service operations by assisting with plating, serving, and catering setups when needed
Requirements
- Previous experience in a dietary department, restaurant, or food industry setting is preferred
- Knowledge of food handling safety standards and food safety management practices
- Experience with meal preparation, food service, and culinary techniques such as slicing and cooking methods
- Strong knife skills and proficiency in slicing techniques required for efficient prep work
- Ability to work quickly in a busy environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Familiarity with dietary aide responsibilities or dietary department experience is a plus
- Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude toward supporting kitchen operations
