Duties
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate records within various accounting software platforms such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and Workday
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments
- Support general ledger accounting activities including journal entries, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Help prepare financial reports, statements, and supporting documentation in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Participate in month-end and year-end closing procedures, including account reconciliation and review of financial data
- Contribute to payroll management tasks using systems like ADP, Paychex, Kronos, or UltiPro
- Assist with tax-related documentation and support non-profit or governmental accounting activities when needed
- Ensure accuracy in financial data entry by adhering to double-entry bookkeeping standards and 10-key typing accuracy
Qualifications
- Basic understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits, journal entries, and the general ledger
- Experience or familiarity with accounting software like QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft or Ceridian is a plus
- Knowledge of payroll management systems such as ADP or Paychex is desirable
- Strong attention to detail with excellent data entry skills (10 key typing)
- Ability to perform account analysis and reconcile accounts accurately
- Fundamental math skills combined with a proactive attitude toward learning new financial procedures
- Prior experience or coursework related to corporate or governmental accounting is advantageous but not required
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently
