Responsibilities
- Safely operate a variety of commercial trucks such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks to transport freight over designated routes.
- Load and unload cargo efficiently using appropriate equipment like forklifts when necessary, ensuring proper securing of loads for safe transit.
- Drive with precision and adherence to all traffic laws and safety regulations to guarantee safe deliveries at all times.
- Plan optimal routes to maximize efficiency and meet delivery schedules while adjusting for traffic or weather conditions.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety issues before departure and after arrival.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, route information, and delivery documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery statuses, delays, or any incidents encountered during routes.
- Assist with the loading and unloading process when required, utilizing skills in operating forklifts or other machinery as needed.
- Ensure proper handling of freight types including refrigerated goods, hazardous materials like tankers, or specialized loads such as flatbeds or roll-offs.
- Follow company policies for safety procedures and report any accidents or violations immediately.
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements relevant to the vehicle types operated (e.g., tanker, flatbed).
- Proven experience in truck driving with a strong track record in delivery operations and route management.
- Proficiency in operating manual transmission vehicles is preferred to handle diverse truck models effectively.
- Experience driving various truck types including tractor-trailers, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks is highly desirable.
- Skilled in load securing techniques for different freight types to ensure safety during transit.
- Ability to load & unload freight efficiently using forklifts or manual methods when necessary.
- Knowledge of safety regulations related to commercial driving and freight handling standards.
- Excellent navigation skills with the ability to plan routes proactively for timely deliveries.
