Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to join our BigBend Pediatric Care team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive medical care to infants, children, and adolescents. This role includes assessing, diagnosing, and managing a wide range of pediatric health conditions, as well as providing preventive care, patient education, and family support in collaboration with the supervising physician. The candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct pediatric patient care, including comprehensive health assessments, diagnosis, treatment, and preventive services within the scope of Nurse Practitioner licensure.
- Perform detailed medical histories and physical examinations for infants, children, and adolescents.
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic pediatric conditions under established clinical protocols and in collaboration with supervising physicians.
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests such as laboratory work, imaging, and other studies as clinically appropriate.
- Prescribe and manage medications and treatments in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Provide well-childcare, including growth and developmental screenings, immunizations, and anticipatory guidance.
- Educate patients and families about preventive care, disease management, nutrition, hygiene, and age-appropriate health and safety practices.
- Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting care plans as needed for optimal outcomes.
- Interpret medical data responsibly and apply evidence-based guidelines from AAP, CDC, DOH, and other recognized authorities.
- Collaborate with supervising physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
- Coordinate care with external healthcare providers and guide the clinical team in managing assigned patients.
- Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) in compliance with regulatory and practice standards.
- Participate in developing and implementing clinical protocols, quality improvement initiatives, and practice policies.
- Respect and promote cultural diversity while maintaining professional, compassionate relationships with patients, families, and staff.
- Participate in staff meetings, continuing education, and in-service training to support professional growth and clinical excellence.
- Demonstrate empathy and professionalism by fostering a caring, therapeutic environment for pediatric patients and their families.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations, infection control policies, and patient safety standards.
- Support practice improvement activities and team-based initiatives to enhance quality of care and operational efficiency.
- Maintain awareness of patient rights, ethical responsibilities, and legal requirements in pediatric practice.
Qualifications:
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Current and unrestricted Florida APRN license and National Certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-PC or CPNP-AC).
- Current BLS and PALS certification required.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of pediatric experience preferred (clinic or hospital setting).
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in use of electronic medical records.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Working Conditions:
- Outpatient pediatric office environment.
- Monday through Friday schedule.
- Requires frequent standing, walking, and interaction with patients and families.
