Big Valley Pet Resort is a fast-paced pet boarding and dog grooming facility that is looking for passionate animal lovers to join our Pet Care Attendant team.
Ideal candidates recognize that taking care of dogs is a lot of hard work and not just all fun and playtime.
Ideal candidates will be prepared and qualified to do the following:
- Welcoming dogs, and cats, and their owners as they get dropped off for boarding or daycare.
- Transition dogs on a leash from kennel to play yard for play time multiple times a day.
- Candidate must be able to walk dogs ranging in weight from 5-100 lbs. short distances, throughout the facility or on farm walks on the property.
- Candidate must be comfortable and confident to play and supervise dogs in our play yards, in groups ranging from 2-15 dogs.
- Applicants must be able to handle and restrain animals safely and effectively and have the physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and some heavy lifting.
- Must be a team player with good communication skills, willingness to take direction, guidance, feedback from others and be an encouraging member of the team.
- Safety and comfort of the animals is most important at Big Valley, so a passion for animals and understanding of their temperament, behavior and needs is critical.
The not so glamorous aspects of the job include:
- Cleaning kennels every day: scooping poop, scrubbing and sanitizing kennels, wash bedding, monitoring personal belongings.
- Feeding/water bowls 2-3 times a day.
- Scooping up poop from play yards and walks.
Position is 4 days a week from 7:30am-5pm or 7:00-4:30. The positions are Sunday-Wednesday or Tuesday-Friday. Candidates MUST have availability for one of these two shifts.
Applicants should be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively and efficiently. Willingness to communicate with pet owners in a professional and courteous manner is required. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and out of high school.
Interested candidates will do a preliminary interview over the phone. Potential candidates will be invited to shadow a Pet Care Attendant for a few hours in the morning to see what the job entails, ask questions and participate in the job tasks as comfortable.
