Big Valley Auto Auction is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Car Hauler to join our transportation team. The Car Hauler is responsible for safely transporting vehicles between Big Valley Auto Auction, dealerships, customers, and other designated locations. This position requires the safe operation of vehicle transport equipment, proper vehicle loading and securement, accurate documentation, and professional communication with customers and team members.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesVehicle Transportation
- Pick up and deliver vehicles according to assigned schedules and routes.
- Transport auction vehicles safely between Big Valley Auto Auction and designated locations.
- Transport both running and non-running vehicles as needed.
- Communicate with dispatch regarding pickup status, deliveries, delays, and route updates.
- Provide professional customer service when interacting with dealerships, customers, and business partners.
Vehicle Loading and Securement
- Safely load, unload, and secure vehicles using approved equipment and procedures.
- Inspect vehicles before transport and document any existing damage.
- Verify vehicle information, VINs, and transport instructions before loading.
- Properly secure vehicles using approved straps, chains, wheel nets, and tie-down equipment.
- Perform securement checks before and during transport.
Safety and Compliance
- Operate company vehicles and equipment safely while following all traffic laws and company safety policies.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and transport equipment.
- Follow DOT regulations and proper vehicle transport procedures.
- Report accidents, damage, equipment issues, or safety concerns immediately.
- Maintain clean and organized company vehicles and equipment.
Documentation and Communication
- Complete transport paperwork, inspection reports, and delivery documentation accurately.
- Record mileage, vehicle conditions, and required transport information.
- Maintain communication with dispatch and management throughout assigned routes.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.
- Must have an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Ability to safely operate vehicle transport equipment.
- Knowledge of proper vehicle loading, unloading, and securement procedures.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to lift, pull, push, and secure equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous towing, vehicle transport, or commercial driving experience.
- TDLR License (if required by vehicle type or company operations).
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and cargo securement requirements.
- Experience transporting auction, dealership, fleet, repossession, or salvage vehicles.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, and walking.
- Ability to enter and exit transport equipment repeatedly throughout the day.
- Ability to secure vehicles using straps, chains, and tie-down equipment.
- Ability to work extended hours and occasional weekends as needed.
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per year
