Job Summary

• Role Overview: As a cashier, you'll operate the point-of-sale (POS) system to process customer transactions, provide exceptional service, and maintain the front-end of the store. The emphasis is on creating a welcoming experience for customers seeking hardware, tools, paint, and DIY supplies, while promoting the "Amaze Every Customer Every Time" philosophy.
• Employment Type: Seasonal, Part-time, or full-time, with flexible schedules including nights, days, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet customers promptly and professionally to ensure a positive shopping experience.
• Scan items, verify prices and quantities for accuracy, and process all payment types (cash, credit, debit) quickly and securely.
• Issue receipts, bag purchases, and handle returns or exchanges per store policy.
• Promote sales by informing customers about promotions, Ace Rewards loyalty program, and relevant products.
• Maintain front-end areas: clean registers, stock impulse areas, organize displays, and restock shelves as needed.
• Answer customer inquiries about product locations, features, or basic hardware advice (training provided).
• Assist with store opening/closing duties, such as cleaning bathrooms, answering phones, and loading customer purchases into vehicles.
• Troubleshoot minor POS issues and follow cash control procedures to prevent discrepancies.
• All other duties as assigned by store management

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; prior cashier or retail experience is a plus but not required (extensive on-the-job training provided).
• Technical Skills: Basic math proficiency for handling transactions and change; familiarity with POS systems (training offered).
• Soft Skills: Strong customer service orientation with a positive, "yes" attitude; excellent communication and multitasking abilities; teamwork and reliability.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs; stand for extended periods; occasional bending, reaching, and stocking.
• 16 years of age or older; flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays; regular and prompt attendance.
