Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, on local routes in compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques and proper equipment, ensuring cargo safety and security during transit
- Navigate efficiently using GPS systems to follow assigned routes, optimizing delivery times while maintaining safety standards
- Deliver freight accurately to various destinations, including automobile transportation facilities or logistics hubs, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with hazardous materials regulations when applicable
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers to identify maintenance needs or safety issues before operating the vehicle
- Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery records in accordance with FMCSA regulations
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery schedules, or any issues encountered during trips
Experience
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record and proven experience in commercial truck driving, preferably with route driving experience in local or regional settings
- Demonstrated ability to handle refrigerated trailers, flatbed trucks, tankers, or tractor-trailers in various conditions
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and logistics cargo handling procedures
- Knowledge of hazardous materials regulations (Hazmat) preferred but not required; willingness to obtain Hazmat certification is a plus
- Experience loading and unloading freight manually or using specialized equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks
- Strong understanding of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) safety standards for commercial trucking
- Ability to manage manual transmission vehicles confidently and operate trucks with automatic or manual gearboxes effectively
