Job Purpose:
Responsible for maintaining, inspecting, and repairing non-patient equipment, lighting, power distribution and telecommunications.
Accountabilities:
I. Ensures patient service areas are electrically safe and operational.
*Initiates patient room preventative maintenance program.
*Identifies and corrects electrical deficiencies.
*Prioritizes work request in order that patient safety and comfort is not compromised.
*Assist supervision and projects that require electrical knowledge and assistance.
II. Maintains current regulatory knowledge of all mandating bodies.
*Maintains current technical and professional knowledge by attending outside services.
*Assures that electrical functions are per. NFPA, NEC and DNV regulation.
*Reviews departmental policies, manuals, and project blueprints to ensure compliance with standards.
III. Participates in inventory control and relating budget variances.
*Maintains inventory supplies to have needed materials, but not in excess.
*Reports excessive supply cost to supervisor before proceeding with more requests.
IV. Participates in hospital wide information session.
*Conducts inservices and safety classes for team members.
*Assist education coordinator in facility electrical safety inservice.
*Provides information to hospital employees as needed about updates from regulatory bodies.
*Assist supervisor in checking new equipment for electrical safety and proper use to avoid damages.
V. Each employee is evaluated, and records are maintained on competency of performing their duties including the specific job; effective and safe use of equipment; disaster training; prevention of contamination and transfer of infection when applicable; and CPR and other life saving interventions when applicable.
*Completes competency checklist annually or more often as required by department policy.

Minimum Level Qualifications Education:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Graduate of appropriate trade school or technical college is desirable.
Experience:
Three to five years experience in the service of electrical/electronic systems.
Graduation from an accredited trade school in a related field is desirable and may substitute for up to two years of experience.
Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration:
Electrical Contractors license is desirable.
Valid Driver's License.
