HVAC & Restaurant Equipment Technician Apprentice

Big Sky Commercial Services is seeking a mechanically minded Technician

Apprentice to join our team in Missoula, MT. If you love troubleshooting, solving

problems, and fixing things with your hands, this full-time, entry-level position offers a

direct pathway to a rewarding career as an EPA-certified Senior Technician.

We specialize in commercial heating, cooling, and facility maintenance, as well as

restaurant and food service equipment repair across Western and Central Montana. We

pride ourselves on expert service and small-business support, and we are ready to

invest in training the right person from the ground up.

About the Role

As an apprentice, you will start with general shop tasks and field maintenance, working

alongside our experienced, EPA-certified Senior Technicians. Over time, you will

transition to independent field work and receive the training necessary to earn your EPA

certification.

Your daily tasks will include:

• Assisting upper-level technicians with large installations and major projects.
• Performing general shop labor and organization.
• Executing preventative maintenance in the field (coil cleanings, ice machine cleanings, belt and filter replacements).

Qualifications & Requirements

We welcome high school grads, trade school graduates, or anyone with strong

mechanical aptitude looking for a career change.

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Required).
• Aptitude: Mechanically minded with a passion for troubleshooting and hands-on problem-solving.
• Drive: A strong desire to build a career in the HVAC and commercial food service equipment industry.
• Skills: Good communication skills and a reliable work ethic.
• License: Clean driving record (Required for using company vehicles).

Schedule & Work Type

• Job Type: Full-time, 8-hour shifts
• Hours: Monday to Friday (Occasional weekend work for emergencies only)
• Location: In-person (Based out of Missoula, MT)
