Water Restoration Technician

Reports To: Field Operations Lead

We are seeking a Water Restoration Technician to join Big Shoulders Restoration. This is not a typical Technician role — it’s an opportunity to help launch, scale, and lead one of Chicago’s most ambitious restoration businesses.

Many experienced Technicians in the restoration industry feel:

Key Responsibilities

As a Restoration Technician, you’ll help restore residential and commercial properties damaged by water, mold, fire, or other losses. You’ll work with professional drying and cleaning equipment and be part of a supportive field team.

Day-to-Day Duties:

• Assist with demolition, water extraction, and cleanup
• Set up and monitor drying equipment (dehumidifiers, air movers, air scrubbers)
• Help build containment systems for mold remediation
• Clean and sanitize affected areas using professional cleaning products
• Record job documentation and moisture readings
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Provide excellent customer service and represent Big Shoulders Restoration professionally

Qualifications

• Reliable, hardworking, and willing to learn
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in confined spaces or elevated areas
• Must pass a background check
• Comfortable wearing PPE (respirator, gloves, safety gear)
• Available for occasional after-hours or weekend emergency jobs

Preferred but not required:

• Experience in restoration, construction, or cleaning industries
• IICRC certification (WRT, ASD, or AMRT)
• OSHA 10/30 safety certification
