Big River Forest Products is seeking a Sales Representative that is a highly motivated self-starter that delivers the highest level of customer service.

This position will be full-time on-site in the sales office located in Jackson, MS

·      Sawmills are located in Vicksburg, MS and Gloster, MS (not required to be on-site at the sawmills)

Reporting to the Manager of Lumber Sales, the Sales Representative will work in a collaborative team environment with the objective of maximizing overall sales returns that align with the strategic plan of the sales department. This position requires exceptional attention to detail and customer focus.

Job Description:

• Develop relationships and understand needs with an established customer base
• Prospect and call on potential new customers to grow business across all regions and segments, including retail, construction, packaging and wholesale
• Collaborate with sawmill staff to sell upcoming production
• Implement sales strategies that maximize margins
• Maintain consistent understanding of changing market conditions
• Field incoming inquiries regarding availability and pricing of lumber
• Attend customer meetings and trade shows
• Identify growth opportunities and develop sales initiatives to expand account growth

Desired Skills:

• Preferred: Background in the North American lumber market or commodity sales, but not required
• Bachelor’s degree and/or five years of sales experience
• Knowledge of the lumber manufacturing process, but not required
• Advanced training in leadership, negotiations, or management
• Experience in industry specific computer sales and inventory software platforms (LumberTrack, Tallyworks, Tamarack etc.)
