Must be willing to work in a small school setting, as a member of a dynamic teaching team, with focus on student achievement. The Big Pine Schools are EL Education (Expeditionary Learning) schools. You will participate in specialized professional development in order to plan for instruction that is hands on and based on Common Core Standards, and will be expected to spend time planning with colleagues and providing students with field work opportunities. We are seeking a teacher to assist us in our efforts to provide a world class education to the students of Big Pine.
Big Pine is a rural, small town with a population of approximately 1,500 and a great place to live and work in the Eastern Sierra. Big Pine is located in an isolated outdoor wonderland in America's deepest valley, the Owens Valley. We are surrounded by 10-14,000 ft. mountains; the Sierra to the west and the Whites to the east. Big Pine is the gateway to the Palisade Glacier in the Sierra Nevada, the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest in the White Mountains, and the northern entrance to Death Valley. We are two hours from Yosemite, two hours from Death Valley, and one hour from the Mammoth Mountain ski area. Bishop is 15 miles north on Highway 395. Big Pine is a 4-5 hour drive from Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Reno.
