Roles:
- [DILL/ENSEMBLE US/RANDY]
- Boy; 9 to 12 years old; ALL ETHNICTIIES Must be 4'6" or shorter — we would especially love a very small actor. EXCELLENT SINGER and EXCELLENT TAP DANCER. Voice must be unchanged.Plays Dill, Scut Farkus’s sidekick. Dill is a little bully with some toughness and swagger, but he is also a kid — small, scrappy, mischievous, and funny. Please note that Scut Farkus will be played by an adult, so Dill needs the confidence and stage presence to hold his own opposite him. This actor will also understudy Randy, Ralphie’s much younger brother, who plays approximately 6–7 years old. Randy is an odd, awkward, off-beat little boy — adorable and genuinely funny without being “showbizzy.” The actor needs strong comic instincts, excellent concentration, and the physical confidence to handle Randy’s very specific stage business while still feeling natural and spontaneous. Must be a very strong singer with a high, unchanged voice and an excellent tap dancer, with the versatility to cover two very different characters. Cannot be younger than 9 when rehearsals begin.
- [SCHWARTZ/ENSEMBLE]
- Boy; 9 to 13 years old; all ethnicities. VOICE: Belter (unchanged voice) low B to high C#. Must be able to tap. Must be 4’11” or shorter.
