Responsibilities
- Deliver instruction based on prepared lesson plans across different subjects, including literacy, math, science, and social studies.
- Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with disabilities or developmental challenges such as autism.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
- Organize classroom activities that promote student engagement, creativity, and critical thinking.
- Support students’ social-emotional development through positive mentoring and behavior management strategies.
- Collaborate with school staff to ensure smooth transitions between lessons and maintain consistent classroom routines.
- Assist with special education programs by implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and supporting inclusive classroom practices.
- Communicate clearly with students, staff, and parents when necessary to promote understanding and cooperation.
Qualifications
- Prior classroom experience in early childhood education or K-12 settings is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of curriculum development, curriculum implementation, and lesson planning techniques.
- Experience working with children with disabilities or developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder.
- Strong classroom management skills with the ability to organize activities and maintain discipline effectively.
- Familiarity with behavior management strategies and instructional adaptability to meet diverse student needs.
- Excellent communication skills to engage students actively and collaborate with colleagues.
- Background in literacy education, creative writing, Montessori methods or other specialized teaching approaches is a plus.
- Demonstrated understanding of childhood development principles and childcare best practices.
