About the Role:
Big Homies Inc. is seeking a dependable, experienced Youth Mentor Supervisor to lead the youth mentor team at Little Homies Youth Center. We serve youth ages 8–18 through mentoring, academic support, enrichment, recreation, and community programs.
This position provides direct supervision to youth mentors and works alongside them to create a safe, structured, and welcoming environment. The ideal candidate can build positive relationships, set clear expectations, address concerns professionally, and consistently follow through.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise youth mentors and assign daily responsibilities, activity areas, and coverage.
- Monitor mentor attendance, punctuality, preparedness, and active engagement with youth.
- Communicate and reinforce expectations for professional conduct, phone use, teamwork, and youth supervision.
- Coach mentors, provide constructive feedback, and help orient and train new team members.
- Document staff performance concerns and recommend corrective action to the Executive Director.
- Coordinate mentor coverage for breaks, activities, and transitions.
- Ensure mentors carry out scheduled tutoring, enrichment, recreation, and other program activities.
- Model positive youth engagement, appropriate boundaries, conflict resolution, and behavior support.
- Respond promptly to youth behavior concerns, staff conflicts, and safety issues; escalate concerns when needed.
- Review attendance records, activity documentation, and incident reports for accuracy and completion.
- Communicate professionally with parents and guardians regarding routine program matters.
- Provide regular updates to the Executive Director on mentor performance, program needs, and concerns.
- Support orderly arrival, dismissal, cleanup, and closing procedures.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience working with children or teens in mentoring, after-school programs, recreation, education, or a similar setting.
- Previous experience supervising employees, including assigning work, providing feedback, and addressing performance concerns.
- Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
- Ability to lead respectfully, maintain professional boundaries, and enforce expectations consistently.
- Dependable availability during the scheduled 2:00–7:00 PM shift.
- Ability to complete required background screening.
