Big Brothers Big Sisters is seeking a Communications Manager to lead the strategy & execution of all external communications. This role is responsible for elevating brand visibility, strengthening community and donor engagement and supporting revenue growth through compelling storytelling and strategic messaging.
The Communications Manager works with a team to retain and expand philanthropic support for Big Brothers Big Sisters by developing strategic, mission-driven communications that engage stakeholders, including donors & volunteers. The Communications Manager works collaboratively with the Executive Director, the Program Director, the Stewardship Committee and the Board of Directors.

Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
· Support the development and lead the execution of the organization’s communications strategy
· Create and manage high-quality content across all communication channels
· Develop materials to support program initiatives and staff needs
· Produce donor-facing communications, including direct mail appeals, annual reports, and newsletters
· Collaborate with program staff to capture and elevate impact stories
· Manage and maintain the organization’s website, ensuring content is current and engaging
· Oversee social media strategy and day-to-day management across platforms
· Develop, implement, and evaluate communication strategies and plans using data driven insight
Qualifications:
· 2 years of experience in communications, marketing, or related role
· Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, including photos and videos
· Experience managing multiple communication channels & campaigns
· Strong project management & organizational skills
· Basic design skills and experience with Canva, Constant Contact.
Work Environment & Schedule:
This position operates in a remote-first environment; however, candidates must be based in the Richmond, VA region. The role requires approximately 10% travel within the service region (Richmond, Tri-Cities, Virginia Peninsula, Hampton Roads), along with occasional evening and weekend availability to support events and organizational needs.
Role is part time, expected 20-25 hours per week
Hiring range: $20-25/hour
1 week PTO and paid holidays (including paid time during office closure from Christmas to New Year’s)
