Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio Organizational Overview

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio serves children and teens who want and need a mentor in their lives. We match Littles 1st-8th grade with Bigs in one to-one, life-changing friendships. Bigs and Littles hang out 2-3 times a month for a few hours doing normal, everyday activities, like going to a movie, playing games, going out to eat, or just hanging out.


Each match is supported by a dedicated Match Support Specialist who is always there to provide resources and support specific to the Little’s age. With a Big in their life, children and teens in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio program are empowered to ignite their potential as they grow in their self-esteem, earn better grades, and develop a lifelong friendship with their Big.


Summary of the Role

The County Program Manager oversees all school-based (SB) and community-based (CB) program operations at the Delaware location servicing Delaware, Morrow, Union, Madison, Clark counties. This role ensures high-quality matching and ongoing support for volunteers, youth, and families, while maintaining strong relationships with schools and community partners and other program managers. The County Program Manager serves as the primary connection between front-line staff and upper leadership, ensuring program needs, trends, and challenges are communicated and addressed. The role is responsible for daily oversight, staff support, program quality, and consistent implementation of agency standards. 

 

Core Duties and Responsibilities:  

  1. Lead the successful delivery of Program procedures and initiatives for the agency by managing the work and the people in the accomplishment of goals.   
  2. Ensure all School-based programs and initiatives are operating within program guidelines; this includes appropriate management of unmatched children and volunteers.  
  3. Develop strategic interventions to identify and strengthen match relationships that require extra support to continue to grow the match relationship. 
  4. Ensure that expectations and deliverables from grant and external partnership agreements are successfully achieved. 
  5. Supervise Match Support Specialists including performance management, training and development, workflow and organization planning, day-to-day management, and disciplinary actions for direct reports. 
  6. As a leader, you may take on a flexible caseload of matches as needed by the team should the business need arise. 
  7. Conduct School-based mentoring program site observations and liaison meetings 
  8. Influence leadership and partner with direct supervisor on implementation of program policies and procedures to ensure that processes are efficient and meet agency goals and national standards. 
  9. Provide input into the design and creation of School-based program activities, training and communications for mentors to meet program goals and ensure they are in accordance with agency mission, vision and values. 
  10. In partnership with HR, assist in hiring and training/developing CB and SB staff and is responsible for supervising and evaluating those employees. 
  11. Supports MSSs and enrollment team to ensure efficient enrollment and transition into designated matches 
  12. Provide input to leadership on strategies for future growth; serve as an advisor to assigned workgroup(s)/projects, attend events as requested by the agency, and serve the agency as a subject matter expert.   
  13. Partner with all agency teams to share potential partners as discovered through volunteers, parents or activities. This includes the re-engagement of volunteers as Bigs, board or committee members, donors or other volunteer capacities.   
  14. Performs other duties as assigned. 



Requirements

  • Must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or other related areas. Experience may be considered in lieu of education 
  • Two to four years of people-leading successful management experience. 
  • Must be willing and able to travel when necessary 
  • Must be willing and able to work with diverse populations in diverse territories 
  • Must be willing and able to make last minute changes to accommodate job responsibilities such has hours, in-office days 
  • Must have viable transportation, valid drivers’ license to meet job responsibilities 
  • Must be available to attend events in the early morning, evening and weekends
