The Director of Development will lead the organization’s comprehensive fundraising program. The focus of this leadership role is to drive revenue growth supporting the mission of BBBS Broward. The strategic leadership role is best suited for a dynamic relationship developer with a strong sales background. This position reports directly to the CEO and manages other positions on the development team which will be more defined as we secure the talent for this role.
Responsibilities
Create and execute the strategic direction for all fundraising efforts, including capital and major gifts, planned giving, corporate sponsorships and annual giving initiatives and events. Develop multi-year fundraising strategies that support the organization’s annual budget and long-term growth and sustainability. Create strategic partnership/sponsorship opportunities that align with the programming and operational needs of the organization.
Drive revenue growth by meeting an annual individual fundraising goal to be discussed at time of interview (anticipating $275,000 to $350,000). Oversee reaching development milestones for long-term growth of the organization. Lead efforts to expand donor pipelines and identify new qualified prospects and revenue sources routinely.
Utilize advanced sales and pipeline management skills and tools to optimize donor engagement, tracking, and forecasting. Maintain a robust pipeline of prospective donors, etc.
Cultivate and manage relationships with high-level donors, corporate partners, and stakeholders to secure long-term, multi-year commitments. Implement targeted engagement plans to build loyalty and encourage increased giving.
Develop and implement donor engagement and stewardship strategies to maintain strong, lasting relationships with supporters. Ensure all donors experience high-quality interactions that foster long-term engagement and investment.
Plan and oversee comprehensive/capital campaigns, fundraising events, and special projects, coordinating with events and marketing teams to maximize impact and align messaging with organizational goals.
Partner with the CEO, board members, and other senior leaders to align fundraising activities with organizational priorities. Support board members in identifying and cultivating potential donors.
Oversee tracking and analysis of fundraising data to assess effectiveness, refine strategies, and report progress to the executive team and board. Use data insights to enhance decision-making and improve fundraising outcomes.
Create and manage the development budget, monitoring expenditures to ensure resources are used effectively and to meet financial goals. Support financial planning related to fundraising efforts.
Evaluate fundraising practices, stay informed of industry trends, and implement innovative strategies to expand and diversify the donor base. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and impact of development activities.
Oversee partner requirements and deliverables such as stewardship, marketing metrics, testimonials, reports, etc. Work with the marketing and program teams to ensure data is collected and reports are delivered.
Maintain accurate financial and relationship records, prepare invoices and gift pledges, track pipeline of opportunities, conduct research, engage in networking and effective follow up.
Develop and implement recognition programs that are of interest and value to supporting partners, including event attendance, awards, and recognition.
Maintain a strong understanding of new and existing BBBS programs and community resources.
Develop and maintain relationships to secure funding for projects, events, programs, organizational capacity building and capital improvements.

Education Level:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
Work Experience:
Five to seven years of demonstrated success in fundraising securing major gifts, investments and multi-year contracts.
Knowledge and experience with children services programs a plus.
Related or equivalent direct experience managing corporate and individual fundraising, relationship development, proposal writing, stewardship and report management. Non-profit fundraising preferred.
Ability to draw upon a book of contacts and donors to align with efforts to drive revenue for BBBS Broward.
Personal or professional experience with non-profit organizations as an employee, volunteer or consultant.
Managed development team members and worked with other supporting departments.
Skill Requirements:
Sales/Fundraising: Proven success in sales, fundraising or related experience, with a strong background in managing pipelines and securing high-value, multi-year gifts.
Strategic Thinker: Ability to set and execute long-term fundraising strategies that align with organizational growth goals.
Leadership and Management: Experience supervising and developing team members in a fundraising or sales environment.
Communication and Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for engaging with donors, stakeholders, and team members.
Relationship Building: Skilled in cultivating and managing relationships with high-level donors, corporate partners, and other key stakeholders.
Presentation skills to effectively promote the agency mission and vision, both internally and externally.
Ability to interpret data, analyze trends, and adjust strategies to maximize fundraising outcomes.
Ability to build budgets and report on financials relating to development.
Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and effectively manage workflow to meet deadlines.
Self-starter demonstrating the ability to use time effectively, work independently, focus on deliverables and priorities while managing a team.
Proficiency in technical areas such as Microsoft Office: Sharepoint, Word, Outlook, Teams, and Excel. Also proficient with databases (Matchforce/Salesforce), etc.
Discretion to handle confidential information.
Ability to travel routinely.
