Big Bend Hospice (BBH) is your “Hometown Hospice” providing compassionate end-of-life care for over 40 years to the Big Bend region. Guided by our values of integrity, respect, and excellence, we are seeking a dedicated Environmental Services Technician to join our team. Preference may be given to Spanish speaking/ Bilingual candidates.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for improving and maintaining a clean, safe and sanitary environment for our administrative offices. This role requires individuals who are detail oriented and dependable with strong work ethic and commitment to quality. The ideal candidates will have strong knowledge of cleaning techniques, tools and chemicals, adhering to safety and infection control standards.
Position Duties and Responsibilities: The Environmental Services Technician responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Clean and maintain the administrative offices.
- Follow established protocols for cleaning and disinfecting to maintain a hygienic environment.
- Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies, restroom supplies and other consumables.
- Adhere to workplace safety guidelines and regulations, including proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Perform periodic deep cleaning tasks, such as carpet shampooing or floor waxing, as scheduled.
- Assist with setting up or cleaning meeting rooms for events or staff gatherings.
- Respond to urgent cleaning needs, such as spills or accidents, in a timely manner.
- Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor when interacting with staff, visitors, or volunteers.
- Work efficiently with minimal disruption to office operations
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule:
- Travel requirement within Tallahassee, Crawfordville and Monticello
- Shifts: Monday – Friday; 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm 5 days a week
- Hours: Part-time 16-19 hours per week.
Skills and Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous custodial, janitorial, or housekeeping experience is a plus but not required.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques, tools and chemicals, adhering to safety and infection control standards.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety and infection control practices.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to navigate basic technology such as email, and electronic time clock via phone app.
- Compassionate and respectful, aligning with the hospice’s mission and values.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Spanish speaking candidates encouraged to apply
Requirements:
- Valid Florida driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, stand for extended periods and navigate organizational facilities.
