What are the responsibilities and job description for the (CNA) Hospice Aide - Home Care (Central-Time) position at Big Bend Hospice?
Big Bend Hospice (BBH) is your “Hometown Hospice” providing compassionate end-of-life care for over 40 years to the Big Bend region. Guided by our values of integrity, respect, and excellence, we are seeking an experienced Hospice Aide to join our West Home Care team covering 8 counties as we prepare to expand our service area in 2026.
The ideal candidate for the Hospice Aide position is a compassionate and dedicated individual who demonstrates a clear understanding of hospice philosophy and a deep commitment to providing quality end-of-life care. They must be capable of addressing the personal care needs of hospice patients with sensitivity and respect, while working under the direct supervision of a Hospice Registered Nurse. The ideal candidate will follow the established care plan diligently, maintain accurate and timely documentation, and communicate any changes in the patient's condition to the RN promptly. Additionally, they will offer meaningful support to both patients and their families during this critical time and be willing to take on other responsibilities as needed, always upholding the values and standards of Big Bend Hospice.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
The Hospice Aide responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Demonstrate knowledge of the hospice philosophy.
- The Hospice Aide is responsible for attending to the personal care needs of the terminally ill patients under Big Bend Hospice care.
- The Hospice Aide works under the direct supervision of the Hospice Registered Nurse.
- The Hospice Aide follows the direction of the care plan.
- Document timely and appropriately.
- Participate in end-of-life care for the patient and family.
- Inform RN of any changes in the condition.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule:
- Monday-Friday: 8:00 am- 5:00 pm.
Travel Requirement: You must have a reliable vehicle and be willing to be dispatched throughout our services areas.
This position covers the following counties:
- Jackson
- Calhoun
- Gulf
- Other counties as assigned
Education & Experience:
- Must have an active Certified Nursing Aide certificate.
- BLS Required
- Must maintain active Florida Driver's License
- High school diploma
- Hospice, Home Health experience preferred
Skills & Abilities:
- Compassionate with sound judgment
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and medical software systems
- Ability to handle stress and long shifts
- Ability to work in private homes and navigate tight spaces as needed
- Ability to work in Assisted Living and Skill Nursing Facilities
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
- CNA License
