Big Bend Hospice (BBH) is your “Hometown Hospice,” providing compassionate end-of-life care for over 40 years to the Big Bend region. Guided by our values of integrity, respect, and excellence, we are seeking an experienced RN Admissions Supervisor to lead and support our Admissions team. This role is essential in ensuring a seamless, patient-centered intake process while supporting our continued growth and expansion of services.
The ideal candidate for the RN Admissions Supervisor role is a clinically strong and compassionate leader who demonstrates a deep understanding of hospice philosophy and excels in coordination, communication, and team development. This individual will oversee Admissions RNs and Hospital Liaisons, ensuring timely, accurate, and efficient patient admissions. They must be comfortable balancing leadership responsibilities with hands-on clinical involvement, coaching staff, and removing barriers to care. The ideal candidate will also serve as a mentor, resource, and role model while maintaining a strong commitment to quality patient and family experiences.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
The RN Admissions Supervisor responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Coordinate and oversee daily workflow of Admissions RNs and Hospital Liaisons.
- Evaluate patients for hospice eligibility and facilitate timely admissions.
- Educate patients, families, and referral sources on hospice services and benefits.
- Assign referrals appropriately and address barriers to the admissions process.
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to admissions staff.
- Provide coaching on patient assessment, care planning, and symptom management.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant documentation within the EMR.
- Perform documentation audits to ensure readiness for billing.
- Support same-day admissions by serving as a backup (“bench”) admissions nurse.
- Conduct field observations and provide real-time coaching and performance feedback.
- Assist with onboarding, training, and mentorship of new staff.
- Maintain communication with physicians, hospitals, and referral sources.
- Coordinate scheduling, obtain medical records, and assist with patient logistics.
- Collaborate with Admissions, Education, and Community Relations teams to improve processes.
- Maintain confidentiality and utilize resources responsibly.
- Provide direct patient care periodically to maintain clinical competency.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule:
- Typically Monday-Friday: 8:00 am- 5:00 pm.
- Weekend Rotation, Holiday Rotation
- Full-time position; schedule may vary based on organizational and regional needs.
Travel Requirement: You must have a reliable vehicle and be willing to be dispatched throughout all 12 counties in Big Bend Hospice service areas.
Qualifications:Education & Experience:
- Associate Degree in Nursing required.
- Active Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience.
- At least two (2) years of direct clinical experience required.
- Minimum of one (1) year hospice experience required.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Intermediate computer skills required.

Requirements:
- Valid Florida driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Active RN license in the state of Florida.
