Duties
- Prepare and review individual, corporate, partnership, and estate tax returns with accuracy and attention to detail
- Conduct thorough tax compliance analysis, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
- Assist clients with estate planning strategies, wills, trusts, and estate law considerations to optimize their financial outcomes
- Perform financial statement preparation and interpretation using accounting software such as QuickBooks
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, balance sheets, and perform account analysis to maintain accurate financial records
- Support regulatory reporting requirements including SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance and other audit procedures
- Collaborate with clients on financial planning, investment analysis, mergers & acquisitions, and other financial services projects
- Conduct audits focusing on regulatory compliance accounting standards like GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and technical accounting practices
- Manage accounts payable processes, payroll activities, and double entry bookkeeping tasks efficiently
- Provide clear client communication regarding tax reporting obligations, financial concepts, and strategic advice
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of tax law, tax experience, and tax reporting for various entities including non-profits and private equity firms
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms; strong technical accounting skills
- Expertise in corporate accounting principles including GAAP standards and regulatory compliance accounting practices
- Strong analysis skills for financial report writing, interpretation of financial statements, balance sheet reconciliation, and account reconciliation
- Familiarity with estate planning tools like wills, trusts & estate law; securities law; LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit); asset management; private equity; mergers & acquisitions
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients regarding complex financial concepts; experience in client consultation is preferred
- Knowledge of auditing procedures, regulatory reporting requirements, payroll processing, budgeting techniques and financial planning strategies
- Demonstrated understanding of securities law and investment principles within the context of financial services industry
- Excellent organizational skills for handling multiple projects involving accounts payable/receivable and general ledger reconciliation
