Position Summary
The Assembly Installer reports to the Assembly Supervisor and department Lead Hand. This position is responsible for assembling and installing process piping systems and related components for natural gas compressor packages. The role requires the ability to interpret engineering drawings, perform mechanical assembly tasks, and maintain strict adherence to safety and quality standards within a manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Assemble and install process piping systems using P&IDs, isometric drawings, and general arrangement drawings
· Read and interpret engineering drawings including P&IDs, BOMs, and isometric drawings
· Lay out piping runs and components based on specifications and drawings
· Select appropriate hardware including bolts, gaskets, and related materials
· Install pipe supports, braces, and hangers as required
· Cut, thread, and fit steel piping
· Safely operate overhead cranes to position and install pipe spools of various sizes
· Complete Bidell quality documentation and perform final inspections
· Ensure all work complies with Bidell and customer specifications
· Follow all safety procedures, including PPE requirements and LOTO procedures
· Maintain a clean and organized work area
· Participate in toolbox meetings and safety training
· Comply with and promote all company PPE requirements
· Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
· Minimum of 1 year of industrial or mechanical experience preferred
· 2–3 years of pipefitting experience or apprenticeship preferred
· Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred
· Must be at least 18 years of age
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, and technical drawings
· Experience with cutting and threading steel pipe preferred
· Familiarity with rigging and overhead crane operation (certification preferred)
· Ability to safely operate hand tools and shop equipment
· Must be able to work effectively as part of a team
· Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as required
