Role Description The Finance Lead is a full-time, on-site role based in Livingston, WI, responsible for overseeing day-to-day financial operations and supporting strategic decision-making of our diversified agricultural operation. This role's primary responsibilities includes:
- Lead annual business, crop, and project budgeting.
- Develop and monitor financial reports, year-end analyses, and profitability metrics.
- Manage billing, invoicing, accounts receivable, and depreciation schedules.
- Coordinate tax preparation and maintain financial records.
- Oversee loan management, lender relationships, and capital expenditure planning.
- Administer payroll through ADP and oversee profit-sharing calculations.
- Assist with crop marketing strategies, including commodity pricing, hedging, and risk management.
- Coordinate cattle purchasing and provide financial analysis for livestock decisions.
- Prepare year-end intercompany agreements and oversee financial activity across multiple business entities.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and strengthen profitability.
- Serve as a key member of the leadership team, providing financial insight to support business decisions and long-term strategic planning.
The Finance Lead will collaborate with leadership and other departments to provide financial insights, ensure compliance with policies and regulations, and support forecasting and planning activities. The role also involves improving financial processes, implementing controls, and clearly communicating financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Agricultural Business, Economics or equivalent combination of education and work experience preferred.
- Knowledge of seed production, grain marketing, and livestock operations preferred.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance analysis.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Proficiency in accounting principles and practices, including general ledger management and month-end close activities.
- Ability to prepare, review, and interpret financial statements and related reports with attention to detail.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent analytical skills for identifying trends, risks, and opportunities and providing data-driven recommendations.
- Experience with financial software and spreadsheets; comfort working with data and reporting tools.
- Clear and professional communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to work on-site, manage multiple priorities, and maintain confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial agricultural environment.
- Interest in growing into expanded leadership responsibilities over time.
