Since 1900, Bichler Concrete & Gravel has been a leading supplier of concrete and aggregate product in Escanaba, MI and the surrounding areas. Aggregate from Bichler’s quarry was used to construct many of the foundations of historic Escanaba buildings, and with three locations, we are proud to now be serving all of central upper Michigan!
We are seeking a full-time seasonal gravel plant laborer to enhance our team for the eventful summer months.
Job Summary:
· Full-time seasonal position (typically start in May and work through November)
· 40 hour work week
· Work schedule is Monday through Friday (7:00 AM ET to 5 PM ET) and Saturdays (7:00 AM ET to 12:00 PM ET)
· Overtime opportunities are frequently available
· Starting wage is $23.40 for 90-day probationary period (pay is based on union contract)

Job Duties:
· Assist in gravel plant operations including production, quality control, operation of equipment, changeovers, and maintenance
· Safely operate equipment such as a front-end loader, gravel crusher, and gravel wash plant at all times
· Consistently practice safe work habits such as wearing PPE, inspecting tools & equipment, being aware of your surroundings, reporting hazards, etc.
· Adhere to all rules and regulations put forth by Bichler, the Department of Transportation (DOT), the Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA), and Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA)
· Effectively work independently as well as with team members
· Operate handheld radios to communicate with peers
· Complete maintenance inspections of company equipment & report any repairs that should be made
· Complete gravel plant inspection sheets & production reports
· Perform maintenance as needed
· Safety operate hand tools & power tools as needed
· Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including while in company equipment
· Maintain smooth daily operations
· Perform any other job duties assigned

Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent (required)
· 2 years of related experience (preferred)
· Possess a valid Driver’s License and have reliable transportation (required)
· Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screening after hire (required)
· Must be able to follow safety procedures
· Ability to work independently and with a team, communicate effectively, adhere to instructions, and be capable of managing day-to-day operations
· Ability to multitask
· Must be detail-orientated and have good time management
· Ability to lift, carry, and move 50 pounds
