Dispatcher

Summary:  

Dispatches drivers and vehicles 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Completes daily schedules for drivers and vehicles; ensures jobs are properly scheduled with suitable, trained staff

• Organizes inbound/outbound load activity

• Dispatches drivers; plans and directs the scheduling process 

• Reviews paperwork for accuracy

• Ensures Fleet is fully operational and inspected daily

• Partners with Account Coordinators and provide daily updates

• Heavy phone contact with dispatched crews and drivers

• Manages Fleet Repair & Maintenance records

• Ensures Fleet and Drivers have updated paperwork/documentation, registrations, insurance, etc.

• Works closely with the Operations Manager to plan and execute daily pickup and delivery activity

• Supports warehouse activity with additional manpower as needed

Additional Responsibilities:  

• Supervises container management; schedules container delivery and pickup, records container activity electronically 

• Performs additional related duties as assigned

• Ad-hoc Reporting as needed

Safety Responsibilities:  

• Maintains the Samsara accident event recorder in each truck, ensuring all units remain fully operational

• Monitors Samsara safety and event data to identify at-risk driving behavior

• Trains drivers on safe operating practices and coaches drivers on findings from event recorder data

• Ensures ongoing driver compliance with company safety standards and policies

Qualifications: 

• HS Diploma or equivalent

• Minimum of 5 years of related dispatch experience

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Knowledge of Tri State area (NY, NJ & CT)

• Excellent customer service and organizational skills

• Multi-tasking ability and attention to detail

• PC proficient
