Job Summary
The Transit Security Specialist is responsible for collaborating with Metro Transit management, supervisory personnel, local law enforcement, and contract security partners to promote the safety and security of Metro Transit customers and staff. This position performs proactive patrols and assignments across designated transit operating areas, with a focus on customer engagement, enforcement of rules of conduct, adherence to administrative policies and procedures, and addressing transit code violations.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensures compliance with Metro Transit policies, rules, regulations, and applicable law.
- Remains current on regulatory and policy changes affecting job responsibilities; applies enforcement measures fairly and consistently.
- Represents Metro Transit with a strong commitment to customer service, problem-solving, and brand integrity.
- Maintains a visible presence throughout Metro Transit’s service areas, prioritizing safety and security through proactive foot and vehicle patrols.
- Responds to incidents requiring transit security intervention, emergency response, or customer assistance.
- Investigates incidents and accidents involving customer or employee safety; regularly shares relevant information with law enforcement and contracted security teams.
- Conducts fare enforcement activities and engages with riders to encourage compliance.
- Participates in ongoing training related to transit safety, security, and operational protocols.
- Intervenes in dangerous or disruptive activities occurring within the transit system and coordinates with law enforcement.
- Oversees and manages security deployment logistics within assigned operational zones.
