Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Automotive Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience in various automotive repair tasks. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles to ensure they operate safely and efficiently. The Automotive Mechanic will work with a variety of vehicles, including GM models, and will utilize both hand tools and power tools to perform their duties.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections to identify issues and recommend necessary repairs
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire service, brake repair, and alignment
- Diagnose automotive electrical systems and troubleshoot issues related to powertrain and transmissions
- Repair or replace components including shocks & struts, suspension parts, and air brake systems
- Utilize schematics for complex repairs and ensure all work is completed according to manufacturer specifications
- Maintain accurate records of services performed and communicate effectively with customers regarding their vehicle's condition
- Collaborate with team members to improve shop efficiency and customer satisfaction
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in automotive repair
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Automotive Mechanic; dealership experience is preferred
- Strong understanding of automotive diagnostics and repair techniques
- Familiarity with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) is a plus
- Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Knowledge of diesel engine repair is advantageous
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as schematics
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly to customers
- Experience with auto body repair or auto estimating is a plus
- Welding skills are beneficial but not required
- Must possess a valid driver's license
