Responsibilities
- Coordinate and exchange technical information with other project engineering disciplines
- Participate in or lead design review meetings and conference calls with customers, subcontractors, and vendors
- Assist with or prepare weekly progress reports identifying completed work and upcoming planned work in accordance with the project schedule
- Coordinate with mechanical designers and drafters to develop:
- Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
- Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Piping Orthographic and Isometric Drawings
- Bills of Material
- Facility Plot Plans / Site Layouts
- Perform quality mechanical drawing checks to ensure designs are safe, compliant, clear, accurate, constructible, and cost‑effective in accordance with BCE’s Drawing Check Process
- Perform cross‑discipline drawing reviews to confirm design consistency between Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical interfaces
- Perform mechanical calculations to validate and document mechanical/piping design and material or equipment specifications
- Utilize customer standards, specifications, and calculations to develop engineered and commodity bills of material
- Identify long‑lead equipment and support or lead the procurement process, including:
- Equipment specifications
- Quote requisitions
- Technical and commercial bid evaluations
- Purchase order preparation
- Review equipment vendor drawings to ensure proper design integration and consistency with purchase documentation
- For more experienced engineers:
- Manage overall project scope, budget, and schedule
- Lead internal project team meetings
- Independently manage small‑ to mid‑scale projects
- Working knowledge or developing understanding of:
- ANSI pipe schedules
- Flange pressure and temperature ratings
- Pipe, fitting, and flange materials
- API, ASTM, ASME, and MSS material specifications
- Familiarity with industry codes and standards such as DOT Part 192, ASME B31.3, and ASME B31.8 (level dependent)
- Knowledge of common mechanical equipment used in industrial and natural gas facilities
- Understanding of general construction practices and sequencing
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Open to all experience levels
- Entry‑level engineers, recent graduates, and experienced professionals are encouraged to apply
- E.I. certification preferred but not required
- Internship or prior experience in natural gas, hydrocarbon, or industrial facilities is a plus
