Summary/Objective
The Medical Records Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining patient medical records, ensuring all medical records are accurate, organized, and readily accessible for assigned provider(s)/clinic location(s). This includes scanning and electronically transferring data, as well as obtaining hospital records for admissions and discharge records for assigned provider(s)/clinic locations(s).
Essential Job Duties

Responsible for timely scanning and electronically storing patient records, both paper and digital.
Retrieves and provides patient records to authorized personnel, including providers, clinical staff and referring physician offices.
Responsible for maintaining and updating patient information in the EHR system for assigned provider(s)/clinic location(s), including appropriately labeling medical records for deceased patients.
Maintains strict confidentiality of patient information and ensures HIPPA guidelines are followed at all times.
Retrieves all records of upcoming scheduled patient appointments from all historical EHR System(s) on a daily basis, ensuring all records are loaded in the new system and available on the date of patient’s appointment.
Verify all medical record release authorizations are in accordance with policy and procedures and state and federal laws.
Required Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
3-5 years experience in Medical Records
