- Assist the shelter Program Director in the planning and implementation of new procedures relating to the units.
- Attend agency meetings and attend related meetings on behalf of the agency.
- Ensure that incident reporting is thorough, complete and timely in the absence of the Program Director.
- Assist in making appropriate referrals and resolving problems that may arise between residents and staff.
- Assist the shelter Program Director in the planning and implementation of new procedures relating to the units.
- Monitor staff and assign tasks as necessary.
- Utilize CPR/First Aid and/or Narcan techniques in emergency situations and conforms to OSHA standards.
- Monitor all fire and safety equipment to ensure it is functional at all times.
- Assist with intakes of new and returning clients, where needed, and submit them for approval.
- Ensure daily census is monitored and accurate; ensure CARES is updated daily with current information and the nightly rosters are submitted.
- Respond to incidents, client issues and complaints; record and perform crisis intervention
- Manage coverage for unscheduled absences and other unexpected situations.
- Invigilate recreational rooms, laundry rooms and cafeteria to ensure that all residents are adhering to protocol and schedules.
- Complete routine resident, daily room inspection and facility checks to ensure that residents are not at risk and that the facility is free of potential hazards.
- Other duties in keeping with the scope and nature of the position
Bachelor’s Degree and/or at least of one year of experience working with homeless families and/or residential services is preferred.
Associate's Degree and/or at least of two years of experience working with homeless families and/or residential services is preferred.
High School Diploma or at least 3 years of experience working with homeless families and/or residential services is preferred
Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
Computer proficiency required with a strong knowledge of Microsoft suite.
Comprehensive written, verbal communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, supervise, display assertiveness and remain organized.
Must be certified with F-80 certification, CPR and food handlers certification.
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for upholding the standards of performance set by the Program Director and for ensuring the objectives are carried out in his or her absence. The Shift Supervisor has a pivotal role which requires strong problem solving and communication skills, a mature demeanor and keen ability to follow up. coordination with the Program Director. The shift supervisor provides some measure of guidance, regulates training and offers direction for Shelter Staff.
