What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Professional/ Geologist position at BHATE Geosciences?
Duties and Responsibilities
The following are required, but not limited to, for the position:
- Primarily involved with preparation of geotechnical reports, including analysis, and recommendations with a strong commitment to meet project deadlines
- Prepare drilling packages and obtain utility clearances
- Perform research on local geologic history
- Supervise field work performed by drilling/test pit crews and assist with rig access issues
- Log geotechnical borings and collect samples for laboratory testing
- Classify soil and assign laboratory testing
- Be proficient in reading and understanding construction plans and specifications
- Conduct laboratory analysis of soils according to specified methods and standards
Skills and Qualifications
- Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Geology with the ability of achieving a professional licensure. Candidates with a master’s degree or MBA are a plus.
- EIT certification or ability to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam within six months is required.
- 3 years of geotechnical and construction experience is preferred.
- Candidates with strong communication skills (written and oral), demonstrated managerial and project management experience, and ability to develop and manage positive client relationships are preferred.
- Physical activities including walking through uneven, difficult terrain, long spans of standing, and ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Up to 25% overnight travel should be anticipated.
