CMM Programmer
Job Summary:
The CMM Programmer is responsible for coordinating and performing all quality-oriented tasks associated with precision measurement inspection to ensure automotive parts are built to type design and meet the requirements of the Quality Management System.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for receiving, in-process and final inspection of parts, assemblies, accessories, and materials for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments and devices.
- Performs dimensional inspection layouts using Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), height gages, calipers, micrometers, surface roughness and profile measurement equipment, optical comparator, and other conventional inspection tools.
- Reads and interprets complicated blueprints, specifications, and other technical data, including, QA procedures and instructions, customer, and vendor specifications.
- Develops work instructions for all methods of inspections.
- Develops CMM programs for inspection, including simulation of program, first piece trial, and performance of repeatability trials and independent comparison for validation.
- Evaluates results of inspections, including to identify causes of rejects due to erroneous inspection, and follows-through with appropriate corrective actions.
- Provide feedback to engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers, as required.
- Completes documentation for results of inspection, including general work orders, first article inspections, and documentation of nonconforming conditions.
- Administers software updates to CMMs and other inspection equipment and executes software validation tests to verify revision changes of software used for product acceptance.
- Responsible to monitor daily tasks of Precision Measurement Area and provide feedback to supervisor regarding status and other associate's performance.
- Responsible to train other associates in proper measurement techniques, from surface plate layouts to CMM to specific/special measurement equipment.
- Responsible to manage user securities and 'manager' level accounts for inspection equipment with software.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Possesses extensive knowledge and understanding of surface plate layout, gauges, CMMs, specifications, procedures
- Knowledge and understanding of industrial manufacturing processes and techniques
- Advanced Blueprint reading skills for interpretation of drawings, notes, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) tolerances and symbols
- Strong working knowledge of GD&T with respect to inspection and part set-up for inspection
- Good working knowledge of statistics and metrics
- Strong ability to problem solve inspections through different set-ups and comparative techniques
- Extensive knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques, and documentation.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement and experience implementing lean manufacturing
Education and Experience:
- Associate degree in inspection, or applicable work experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of aerospace inspection experience, with experience using a variety of equipment for dimensional inspection
- Familiarity and ability to program using Zeiss Calypso
