Duties
- Lead and coordinate comprehensive tax planning strategies, including estate planning and mergers & acquisitions, to maximize organizational efficiency and compliance.
- Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and regulatory reporting in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other relevant standards.
- Manage complex tax accounting processes, ensuring accurate debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and adherence to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls.
- Collaborate with internal teams on financial analysis, budget forecasting, and asset management to support strategic decision-making.
- Supervise audits, internal controls, and compliance procedures related to securities law, LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), and other regulatory requirements.
- Provide expert guidance on wills, trusts & estate law as part of estate planning initiatives; advise on non-profit accounting practices when applicable.
- Utilize advanced accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar tools for financial statement preparation and account reconciliation.
- Support the development of financial report writing and interpretation skills within the team to enhance clarity in financial communication.
- Facilitate training on technical accounting topics including GAAP standards, tax experience essentials, and financial concepts for team members.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial analysis techniques, account analysis, payroll management, and accounts payable processes.
Experience
- Proven experience in public accounting or corporate finance with a focus on tax accounting and financial reporting.
- Extensive background in estate planning, securities law compliance, auditing procedures, and regulatory reporting.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero or equivalent platforms; proficiency with financial statement preparation is essential.
- Strong understanding of non-profit accounting principles when applicable; experience with LIHTC is a plus.
- Familiarity with mergers & acquisitions processes along with private equity or asset management insights is advantageous.
- Exceptional analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex financial reports and conduct detailed account reconciliation.
- Knowledge of technical accounting standards including GAAP regulations; experience implementing SOX controls is highly desirable.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively while maintaining high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
