What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Field Technician position at BGEC LLC?
Overview
As a Landfill Field Technician for Blue Granite Environmental, you will be responsible for working on a variety of diverse environmental projects related to landfill gas collection and control systems (GCCS). Much of your time will be spent in the field and traveling to and from sites. Your duties will include but are not limited to:
- Under general supervision operate, monitor, and maintain landfill gas migration control/recovery systems.
- Calibrate, operate and maintain sensitive electronic data collection devices to optimize the landfill gas collected from the wellfield.
- Collect data from wellfield extraction and environmental monitoring locations.
- Perform wellfield valve/vacuum adjustments, data collection and maintenance; interpret data.
- Generate compliance reports and analyze data collected in the field.
- Develop a general understanding of environmental regulations related to GCCS operations.
- Assist with small construction projects including pipe and valve installation.
- Use Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) or High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) piping materials and associated equipment to perform maintenance on piping systems.
Required Training
- 40-hour HAZWOPER training
- Yearly HAZWOPER 8-hour refresher
- John Zink Flare School; renewed every 5 years
Qualifications
- 2 years’ experience in a related field.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Data analysis skills
- Mechanical skills and attention to detail are crucial.
- On the spot, troubleshooting skills are a must.
- Ability to exert physical effort in handling objects up to 50 pounds on occasion.
- Ability to work outdoors approximately 75% of each workday; work involves exposure to dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes, or similar elements.
- Ability to walk over steep and rough terrain for considerable distances on a daily basis;
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (safety glasses, hard-hat, safety boots, safety vest, personal multi-gas monitor, etc.) in accordance with company Health and Safety standards.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Ability to travel to sites in Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts on a weekly basis; and New York monthly
- 2-5 overnights per month as needed
- Ability to work independently in the field in varying weather conditions with strict adherence to operating procedures and safety policies; and
- High school diploma/GED.

We specialize in Landfill Gas Collection and Control Systems (GCCS) but also provide additional services as needed for our clients.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
